Hancock County Cracking Down On Blighted, Abandoned Properties
Hancock County supervisors have a message for property owners who haven't cleaned up since Katrina - Clean up or pay up!
Later this month, the county will begin the process that will give them the authority to remove debris and send the bill to property owners.
That was posted on on WLOX 13 in December of 2006. There are still hundreds of blighted or abandoned properties and over grown trash filled lots in our neighborhoods, half sank boats in the water ways that need to be cleaned up.
we as tax payers and property owners need to take a stand to rid our neighborhoods of these eyesores that are driving our property value down and are a hazard to our children. I will be posting pictures of my neighborhood of Shoreline Park. and would be happy to post pictures that anyone sends me of their neighborhoods. We need to shame the county into taking action to force the owners to clear these blighted properties or to get the county to clear them at the owners expense.
you can help by emailing bslblightedproperty@yahoo.com photos along with the names of the last known owners. the site below is public information of Hancock county property owners.
